Teacher Biographies

Gary Lankford

Christian Worldview and American Culture, World History, American History, and Politics and Government (Public Speaking will be offered again next year).

Gary Lankford is the President of FamilyVision, and the founder and Headmaster of FamilyVision Schools / WAHA.

Gary is the previous Headmaster and history teacher for a classical Christian school. His teaching experience includes over five years in Campus Crusade for Christ at Ohio State University and Florida State University, two years as Director of Christian Education at an evangelical church, and many years teaching children's church, and youth and adult Sunday school classes.

In addition to FamilyVision and FamilyVision Schools / WAHA, Gary served as both a traveling speaker and the Ohio Coordinator for TeenPact, a national youth ministry that teaches students about government and citizenship.

Gary's professional experience includes stints as a major account rep for a national business equipment firm, as a stockbroker for major brokerage firm, and most recently as a senior account executive with a leading consulting services IT firm. This is Gary's sixth year at WAHA.

Carla

Middle School Grammar and Writing, English Composition

Carla received her BA in Education and her MA in English Education at Ohio State University. She taught Middle School English, Grammar, and Writing for seventeen (17) years, at Worthington Christian Schools. Carla also served as editor of "The Scribbler," a collection of students writings, and has a special interest in helping students become strong readers. Her hobbies include reading (especially mysteries), knitting, cross-stitching, and quilting. One of Carla's favorite activities is feeding the birds, ducks, rabbits, and squirrels that inhabit her backyard. This is Carla's fourth year at WAHA.

Elena

Latin 101, Latin 201, European Literature

Elena has B.S. in History from Moscow State Pedagogical University, Russia, and B.A. in French language and Literature. She lectured and completed her graduated study at OSU. She has taught at Columbus School for Girls and Grace Brethren Home Educators Fellowship. Elena has also taught French and Latin at a Classical Christian School for the last eight years. This is Elena's fifth year at WAHA.

Dorothy

Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1

Dorothy Dorothy received her BS in Education from Bowling Green. She has extensive math teaching experience at both the high school level and college level - having taught or tutored Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 1 & 2 and Pre-Calculus at both levels. She also received a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from BGSU. For the last 13+ years, she has been primarily a stay at home mom - slipping in PTO and some part-time teaching around her children's schedules. Mostly you will find her on the soccer, baseball or basketball fields with her son Ryan (12). That is, when she is not watching her daughter, Maggie (14), in a gymnastics meet. This is Dorothy's first year at WAHA.

Sarah

Drawing, Painting

In 2004, Sarah graduated from the Columbus College of Art & Design, obtaining her B.F.A. in Illustration. Since graduation, she has used her degree to earn a living through painting murals and creating illustrations. When Sarah is not painting, drawing, or doing ministry, you can find her in a park gazing at the clouds with an ice cream cone in her hand, daydreaming of driving Monster Trucks! This is Sarah's third year teaching at WAHA.

Juli

WAHA Jr. Art

Juli is well-known in Central Ohio for her fabulous art classes, where she's taught art both in her own home, and for outside groups. Juli was a big hit at WAHA in 2007-2008. We're looking forward to her second year at WAHA!

Chris

Self-Defense, WAHA Jr. Gym

Chris earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio State in 2001, and his Masters of Education from OSU in 2003. Chris has over 13 years experience in self-defense. In addition to WAHA, he has taught at Whetstone Recreation Center and the Dublin Community Rec Center. He has also conducted classes for Fitness Fun and Games, Ultimate Frisbee, Tag Rugby and Team Handball. Chris has been home schooling his 12 year old daughter, Aiden, since 2003. This is Chris' fourth year at WAHA.
